Board of Directors
Richard Mansell - CEO
Richard has a multi-generational connection to Coastlands and the Kāpiti Coast. As the son of previous CEO Bruce Mansell, Richard has lived and breathed the community ethos of Coastlands for most of his life. He has been a practicing Chartered Accountant for over 25 years and is also the Director of the Horowhenua Kāpiti Rugby Union. He has served on our board since 1986, and as our CEO since 2013.
Takiri Cotterill - Board Member
Takiri’s connection to Coastlands also runs deep. She is the granddaughter of Takiri Love, one of the original founders and a much-loved community figure, and her whānau have lived on the Coast for at least 9 generations. With over 30 years of social work and organisational experience in the area of whānau Māori wellbeing and community development, Takiri is well placed to ensure Coastlands isn’t just commercially successful, but also has a positive impact on the community.
Richard Cathie - Chairman
Richard Cathie (MNZM LLB) has been a dedicated member of the Coastlands board for many years. His experience as a commercial law partner at Kensington Swan makes him an extremely valuable asset to the Board. Richard is one of New Zealand’s most prominent advocates for the arts community and has received the NZ Order of Merit for his efforts. He focuses his free time on family, reading, music and golf.
RJ Barry Clevely - Board Member
Originally a pharmacist, Barry is a highly successful property developer. He formed the Waikanae Property Enterprise in the 1970’s and went on to become CEO of RDC, one of New Zealand’s most notable development companies. During Barry’s time at the helm, RDC won many national awards and helped revitalise Wellington City. He has been awarded a fellowship of the Property Institute of New Zealand. Barry now focuses his efforts on property excellence and innovation closer to home, in Kāpiti, working closely with iwi, industry and the public.
Alastair Mansell - Board Member
Adding to the Mansell family legacy with Coastlands, Alastair is a long-serving member of the board, having joined alongside Richard Mansell in 1986. He is a nationally respected Chartered Accountant; he is currently Principal of Mansell Associates, the Honorary Accountant for Wellington School of Medicine Surgical Research Trust and a Trustee of Parkwood Retirement Village. Alastair holds a Karate blackbelt and has several Ironman triathlons and marathons to his name.
