Matariki ki te rangi - Michel Tuffery and Yvonne de Mille
Inspired by the traditional making and flying of Manu Aute and Manu Tukutuku kites during Matariki stars at dawn signaling the beginning of the Māori new year.
The installation will be added to over time by local tamariki who will also make traditional manu aute with artist Louie Zalk-Neale (Ngāi Te Rangi, Pākehā)
This installation was commissioned by Matariki Ramaroa and Coastlands and is intended to inspire the making of traditional kites in Kāpiti.
